This object could be a cosmetic palette in siltstone (often confused with a stone slate). Its shape could possibly represent a reed boat.

The exact origin of this object is unknown. Undoubtedly the context of discovery is the date of the pre-dynastic period, specifically Naqada II (Gerzean), 3500-3100 BC.
